Singers Cheryl and Liam Payne have announced that they have split up after more than two years together.
In close-identical tweets, the couple say they still have “much love for each other as a family” and that the decision was “tough”.
The former Girls Aloud star, 35, and One Direction member, 24, have decided to split just over a year since their one-year-old son called Bear was born.
On Wednesday 22nd March Liam and I became parents to an incredibly beautiful, healthy baby boy, weighing 7lb 9 and looking like a dream. Although he still doesn’t have a name he is already stealing hearts. We are all madly in love and overwhelmingly happy with our little arrival. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers around the world. A day that now has a different meaning to me forever 💙
They told their followers that separating had been “a tough decision for us to make”. “We still have so much love for each other as a family,” they said.
We are sad to announce that we are going our separate ways. It’s been a tough decision for us to make. We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.

Cheryl and Liam had been in a relationship since December 2015. The couple met on the X Factor when she was a judge and he auditioned as a solo contestant, then 14 years old.

Reports have speculated that Liam and Cheryl’s romance have been on the rocks for the past couple of months though they seemed keen to downplay this at the Brit Awards, where they put on a united front on the red carpet.
It’s been reported that the One Direction star has already moved out of the luxury £5 million mansion he shared with Cheryl and Bear in Surrey.
A friend of parents told The Sun “He still cares for her and she cares for him. They still have an on-going relationship together. They have a baby together. But they’re in different stages of their lives and, after a lot of careful thought, came to a decision that it’s best for everyone if they do go their separate ways.”
